This is all based on metabolism, and how your body processes inputs. Everyone has a dose that they need, and that is a bit different from everyone else because everyone is a little bit different. Sometimes however it doesn't work at all either.īasically, you are trying to increase your brains access to dopamine and norepinephrine, which will allow your mind to "focus".

If it keeps them up for days they basically don't have ADD. For some people that is all they need to help their symptoms and for others, it will keep them up for days. The meds won't work miracles, but ideally they'll help you function more like you want to and know you should be able to. Just keep track of it all and talk to your doctor and/or pharmacist. Some days I just want to quit all the meds (especially days with side effects), but waiting to get better without treatment never helped so I'm just keeping on keeping on.ĭon't give up, but don't be surprised by anything. I've also got some other issues, though, and am trying other meds at the same time. I'm 32 and only started treating a couple years ago, and I've been through a bunch of different meds and dosages (including Ritalin and Strattera, and now Adderall). Don't want to disappoint you, but a lot of us spend years trying to find the right meds.

Second, bear in mind that Adderall may not end up working for you. So don't get too caught up in your appetite so long as you eat regular meals. As for appetite, I myself will eat plenty when I eat, but I do sometimes forget to eat if sitting at a desk engrossed in something. Other people take it with orange juice every day. Some people can't drink citrus or it basically negates the med. Also be sure to read the directions and not take certain foods/supplements that will impact how you absorb it. Some people will just absorb certain meds differently. I'm currently on 30mg XR (previously not XR) and I feel nothing, so that's gonna get dropped. That's a very small dosage, and while you should feel something, anything, if it's impacting you, you'll likely need to try different dosages.
